ABSTRACT
Rice-fish farming has increasingly been promoted to improve the productivity and efficiency of rice cultivation. This study aimed to: (1) analyze the distribution of technical-efficiency scores in rice-fish and Siam rice farming; (2) identify factors affecting production and technical inefficiency; and (3) compare technical-efficiency levels between the two systems. The study was conducted in Abumbun Jaya Village, Sungai Tabuk District, Banjar Regency, using a descriptive quantitative design and Stochastic Frontier Analysis. Land area, family labor, rice-equivalent seed, and herbicide had significant positive effects on rice production, while urea fertilizer had a significant negative effect. Farmer age, farming experience, and the rice-fish technology dummy significantly affected technical inefficiency. The mean technical-efficiency score was 0.977 for rice-fish farming and 0.400 for Siam rice farming, and the difference between the two systems was statistically significant. These findings demonstrate that the integrated cultivation system improved the technical performance of production-input use.
