The Existence of Wayang Kulit Performances and Their Meaning for Adolescents in Grobogan Regency

ABSTRACT
This study aims to describe the existence of Wayang Kulit (Traditional Javanese shadow puppet) performances in Grobogan Regency, to identify the social values reflected in these performances, and to investigate how adolescents perceive Wayang Kulit. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed. The result indicated that Wayang Kulit performances continue to exist and remain well preserved, not only in the Grobogan Regency town square (Alun-alun) but also in communities throughout the regency. The performances reflect various social values, including honesty, responsibility, justice, loyalty, education, mutual cooperation, social solidarity, compassion, politeness, and manners. The adolescents in this study perceived Wayang Kulit as a traditional performing art that conveys moral values and contributes to character education.
